Compassion

So soft and kind,
I wish it were true
If only we carried
a better me and you.

Yet the heart is biased and bloated
calloused and grey
neighbors to enemies
love blown away.

Anarchistic animalistic
selfish mentality
Life crushing life
an existance of misery.

We are not justified.
Our souls are not pure
There are the wary
the doubtful and unsure.

A coin for the beggar
a tip of the hat
someone elses future
a new child at bat.

Will he strike-out?
another legacy not met
Remember the past
lest we forget.

The trials and tribulations
the challenges of survival
A loss of compassion
leads to world war revival.

And extreme pain
a tortured spirit
a loss of compassion
we should all fear
that the heart does not bear it.
