“Thou shall not kill”

Blackened sulfuric acid whispers told the handler to shoot his gun
Rust-colored suffering spread over silenced lips, indicated what he had done
The watcher wept, the victim slept, a forever midnight’s sleep
The crime was cruel and passionate, the pain penetrating deep

A war-riddled conscience, crawled, stumbled, fell.
The perpetrator’s soul was tried, sentenced, and immediately jettisoned into hell
He that saw, the vicious and raw: a violence never known
Screamed and groaned when brains were blown:
A violation of God’s law.
