Someday I’ll reach the top and gaze my old self below
The efforts of my perseverance, wisdom bestowed
It’ll take this lifetime to reach there and no turning back
My conscience, my compass, keeping me on track
I’m going to be a new soul with every step I take
You’re going to see the radical changes that I am going to make
To find the answers, I must lose myself, in the grand equation
The relation between destruction, and the creativity of imagination
Will see me reach the often sought, rarely met, self-realization
I will truly know myself and my purpose for existence
But to feel the freedom I must overcome incredible resistance
Through the entirety of a life journeyed
Tempted by materialism, sex and money
I will be bombarded by a barrage of thought
Most useless, some unusual,
But the most beautiful, will be the few that are re-useable
Practicing what I was taught
They’ll help me see where I’ve been and where I’m heading
They’ll keep my eyes on the horizon as the final sun is setting
The time will come when I am done, my final breath I take in.
The process has already begun, and every decision that I’ll have taken
Will, in an instant, be recalled in terse reverse
Every word I’ve spoken and every rhymed verse unrehearsed
will reinforce for me that my reasons for setting out had not been mistaken
