Who's Contention Anyway?

Is the popular party perfect?
Do they deserve your vote?
Are they the voice of the people,
or do they vocalize mere sour notes?

The Forefathers formed The Rock
but did they see the crack?
A strain in the structure of American liberties
now recognized and under attack.

So many ride the trend
So many beliefs just bend
But a few virtuosos
Join hands to greater ends.

"The Anarchists tear down walls", 
they say, "all that is fair and true."
But the truth is larger than their insight
Those sheep don't have a clue

Too many people are apathetic
A growing sea of living-dead
John Doe today cares not about the impoverished
Only what the flashy celebrity said

Are you driven by the others?
Or do you live to drive?
Are you dying inch by inch each day
or fighting for freedom so those in need can survive

The wide and crooked or the straight and narrow
Regardless of the path you choose to take
If you take the high road over the low one
The others too shall aspire to walk a similar path
Toward turning a good world into a planet that is great.
